These procedures are guaranteed to give you a sparkling smile.
Composite resins (tooth-colored fillings) and removal and replacement of amalgam fillings
Amalgam fillings have been used in dentistry for over 150 years. Although they contain mercury which is neurotoxic, there is still no official stance on amalgam filling toxicity. Still, amalgam fillings are slowly becoming obsolete because they are not considered aesthetically pleasing. Resin composites are far more appealing, made of high-quality materials and guarantee a totally natural look. Many patients choose this option because it is the most affordable, completed in one appointment, pain-free and the least invasive of all.
Laser crown lengthening (gum lift / gummy smile treatment)
Excessive gingival display – so-called gummy smile – is present when a large portion of gums in the patient’s upper jaw is exposed during smiling. It is a common but soluble problem that calls for state-of-the-art technology, such as the Waterlase iPlus Laser. It decreases the height of the upper jaw while optically lengthening the crowns of central and lateral teeth; this makes all the difference when it comes to having a beautiful smile.
Waterlase iPlus Laser corrects gingival imperfections without pain or gum injury, and the recovery takes just a few hours.
Biolase Waterlase iPlus Laser delivers the best dental prosthetics results.
Veneers (dental porcelain laminates)
A veneer is a thin layer of dental porcelain placed over a tooth. Veneers are biocompatible, lifelike, long-lasting and resistant to pigmentation from food, coffee, tea and nicotine. They are adaptable and resistant and can be used for various types of aesthetic improvement, from repairing a chipped or broken tooth to complete dental makeovers.
Apart from crowns, non-metal veneers are the optimal way to go from discoloured, decayed teeth to having a radiant smile!
A crown usually completely caps the tooth or implant to protect it. Apart from aesthetic benefits, crowns are often placed over a tooth that is very brittle and in danger of fracturing due to muscular force exerted on it during chewing.
There are all-metal, porcelain-fused-to-metal, all-resin, or all-ceramic crowns (zirconium or E-Max). All-ceramic crowns have the transparency and translucency of natural teeth and will not develop dark edges that sometimes appear on metal-ceramic crowns.
For patients who just want to add some extra sparkle to their smile there is the option of getting dental jewellery. It is bonded to the tooth surface, won’t damage the tooth enamel, and can be removed whenever you wish. Placement and removal of tooth jewellery is completely painless.
Our patients are often dissatisfied with their teeth colour. There are various reasons for a cosmetically unappealing tooth shade: genetics, some antibiotics, vitamin or mineral supplements, certain types of food and beverages. The solution to this is teeth whitening or teeth bleaching, which can be done at home with a teeth-whitening kit or at your dentist’s office. Professional tooth whitening is more effective, works faster and is performed in a controlled environment. It is completed in two or three visits.
After the positive experiences we had working with soft tissue diode lasers (used for smaller procedures, i.e. gingival correction during crown or bridge placement), in September 2012 we started using the cutting-edge Epic™ 10 Diode Laser. Its short pulses are known to cause less thermal tissue damage and produce cleaner cuts.
Laser whitening is quick and pain free – your teeth will get two to three shades lighter in one visit.
When is teeth whitening not recommended and what are the alternatives?
Since whitening only works on natural teeth, you may need to replace any fillings or crowns you may have on the front teeth. It is important to inform the patient of this fact prior to the procedure.
